Key Take Away
Fiverr is a great platform for freelancers looking to make some extra money on the side or even make Fiverr into a full-time job. To maximize your success and earning potential, it’s important to create an effective gig description that shows off your skills and allows buyers to fully understand what they will get with your services.
How Does Fiverr Work?
Fiverr is an online platform which connects buyers and sellers of freelance services. Most of these services are for digital products or services such as logo creation, SEO, or social media posts. You can even offer virtual assistant services as well to make an extra income. There are literally thousands of different services which are offered from a huge number of freelancers.
Fiverr sellers list the services they offer and buyers can browse those services to find one they like. When they do, the buyer purchases the gig and the process begins. This post will focus more on selling on Fiverr and how to maximize the Fiverr platform to make more from your sales and to better engage potential buyers.
How Much Can You Make Selling Services on Fiverr?
The amount of money you can make selling services on Fiverr depends on a few factors. The most important factor is the type of service you are offering and the profit margin that is available for that service. Some services, such as logo design or web development, can fetch higher prices than others. Additionally, the quality of your work and customer feedback will also play a role in how much money you can make.
Tips to Maximize your Fiverr Profits and Reach the Right Audience
The best way to maximize your gigs is to ensure they are reaching the correct audience. Staying focused on a niche rather than trying to reach everyone at once is always better. You can always target other related niches with additional gigs if needed. And the higher your seller level the more gigs you can offer. It’s a great way to grow your overall freelance business.
For instance, if you’re offering potential clients social media marketing services such as social media management consider focusing more on a specific network such as Pinterest or Facebook. Then after you make the sale you can offer an upsell on Fiverr for additional social media services on different networks. This ensures that you’ll reach the potential clients that were searching for your initial services but you don’t need to compete with the overall social media management category so you can rank higher in the Fiverr search.
Choose the Right Gig Title for Your Service
When it comes to maximizing your Fiverr selling profits, choosing the right title for your gig is essential. Your title should be descriptive and accurately reflect the services you are offering. It should also be keyword-rich so that potential buyers can easily find your gig when searching on Fiverr. Additionally, make sure to include relevant keywords in your description as well. This will help ensure that your gig is found by the right people.
Promote Your Gigs for More Exposure
Once you have created your gigs, it’s important to promote them everywhere you can without spamming. You can do this by sharing them on social media, creating blog posts about them, or even reaching out to potential clients directly. Additionally, Fiverr also offers a variety of promotional tools such as sponsored ads and featured gigs which can help you reach even more potential clients.
Use an Eye-Catching Image for Your Gig Image
Using an eye-catching image for your gig is a great way to draw attention and stand out from the competition. Make sure to choose an image that accurately reflects the services you are offering and is visually appealing. Additionally, make sure to use high-quality images that are optimized for Fiverr’s platform. This will ensure that your gig looks professional and will help attract potential buyers.
A good tip is also to turn up the saturation on the image a bit to get a more dramatic effect. This tends to draw the eye of people who are browsing the search results on Fiverr. Here is the same image, only the one on the left is a standard image and the one on the right has the saturation turned up a bit. Which one catches your eye first?
Fiverr is more of a visual search engine first so buyers will see your gig image first before they read the description. They may see the gig title displayed under the image and the seller but not much else. Make sure the image portrays everything you want potential customers to know about your gig.
Choose Your Gig Metadata Carefully
When creating your gig, you’ll be asked to fill out some metadata such as the Fiverr category and Fiverr search tags. This is important because it helps Fiverr understand what your gig is about and how to rank it in the Fiverr search results. Make sure to choose the right categories and tags that accurately reflect the services you are offering.
Optimize Your Gig Search Tags
We recently done a post on how to best optimize your Fiverr search tags and how to test them to make the most of your Fiverr gig. You can read that article here. In summary, optimizing your Fiverr tags requires a bit of effort but can be done with the right strategies for testing them. Since Fiverr limits the number of tags you can use there are many different ways to you approach the tests to see what works best for your Fiverr services. Remember to focus more on the main Fiverr gig you’re selling rather than an additional option for your gig or an upsell.
Make the Most of Frequently Asked Questions
An area most Fiverr freelancers overlook is the frequently asked questions area of the gig description. Since Fiverr has strict requirements for the gig description which includes limiting the number of characters you can use and the number of times you can mention specific words it can sometimes be difficult to describe your product or service to potential customers. The Frequently Asked Questions portion of the gig description is a bit different, however. It allows you to clear up specific points to you gig so buyers can fully understand what you’re offering.
You can also utilize an additional photo to describe your gig to help buyers understand just what you’re offering for sale. It’s usually a good idea to make this in addition to your main Fiverr gig image. As a freelancer, it’s important to showcase your skill and allow the buyer to fully know what they will get if they purchase your service.
Another way to make a little extra money with each gig delivery is to include some type of upsell. You can offer additional services or even an affiliate link where the buyer can get related services. For example, if you offer graphic design services for a business owners blog, consider also sending them a link from an affiliate program for search engine optimization services since they will likely need that as well for their blog. Gig extras is a great way to promote your services as well to create additional income streams.
Add a Video to Your Gig
Adding a video to your Fiverr gig can be a great way to showcase your services and give potential buyers an idea of what they will get if they purchase your service. Videos are also great for SEO purposes as well since Fiverr will index the video content in their search engine. Fiverr has even stated that freelancers that include a video will be more heavily promoted by the platform in areas such as Fiverr search.
If your service is about video content then it’s crucial to include it as part of your business description and gig description. You want to showcase the skill you are offering and what options are available for your gig.
How do You Get Paid on Fiverr?
Getting paid on Fiverr is easy and secure and there are different options depending on your country. When a buyer purchases your service, the funds will be held in an escrow account until the job is completed to the buyer’s satisfaction. Once the job is complete, the funds will be released to you after 14 days. It’s also important to note that the buyer has 3 days to approve the delivery of your gig. The 14 day clock starts only after the gig is marked as complete by the buyer or after the 3 days has passed.
Some withdrawal requirements for different countries do exist so you’ll need to check with Fiverr about your situation. The main ways to withdraw money from Fiverr is through PayPal, bank account ACH, Stripe, or by a Fiverr debit card. Per my personal experience, the best way to withdraw money is by using PayPal as they don’t charge PayPal fees on the funds withdrawn. The 20% Fiverr cut is still taken however.
Another important point to remember is that Fiverr only allows one withdrawal per 24 hour period. So if you have multiple payments that are clearing on the same day you’ll want to wait until the last one clears before starting the withdrawal or you’ll need to wait another 24 hours.
